Quick answer: rain makes the track better, not worse. When the ground behind Side is wet, the dust drops out of the air, the mud pits fill up and the water-splash sections get deeper - exactly what most riders come for. You lose none of the route; you simply finish a lot dirtier. Dust days and mud days are two different tours
Same Taurus tracks, same route - the surface decides how the day feels from the saddle of a quad:

Why mud suits a quad in particular
A quad is a single-rider ATV: throttle on the handlebar, no steering wheel, and you steer with your body weight as much as with your hands. Wet ground is therefore more interesting on a quad than on almost anything else - every change in the surface arrives through the bars and the footpegs, and you alone decide what to do about it. The spray arrives directly on you too. If you would rather sit belted side by side under a roll cage and share the driving, the €30 Side Buggy Safari is the better wet-day answer.
How our guides ride a wet track
Nothing dramatic changes when the track is wet; the day is run with more care. Guides ride front and back of the convoy, maximum 40 guests per departure, and on mud days they:
- ease the pace through the first section until everyone has felt the surface;
- leave more space between riders so spray does not land on the person behind;
- take the firmer line around the deepest ruts and point it out early;
- keep the splash and mud-pit stops where they are, taken gently by anyone nervous.
The supervised test drive at the base still decides: you practise in front of a guide first, and if the controls do not feel comfortable you ride as a belted passenger behind the driver. Drivers from 16 with ID at the base, passengers from 6, securely belted. Guests with back or neck problems should ride as passenger, which matters more on a wet track, not less.
A complete change of clothes is not optional

What not to bring on a mud day
- Light-coloured or new clothes. This is not a stain you plan around.
- An unprotected phone. Loose pockets and splashes do not mix; for pictures of yourself in the pit, our base offers a professional photo and video service.
- Flip-flops or open sandals. Closed shoes you can hose down.
- Anything loose in a pocket - keys, sunglasses, hotel cards. Leave them in the changing cabin.
- Bare eyes. Goggles and bandanas are sold at the base and earn their money fast when it is wet.
Showers and changing cabins are included
Every departure ends back at our base, where changing cabins and showers are part of the tour, not an extra. You wash the track off, change, and the free transfer takes you back more or less clean. When is the track most likely to be wet?
Spring and autumn are the showery parts of the season here: a short burst of rain, sunshine again, and a track that stays interesting for a day or two afterwards. High summer is mostly dry, so the mud pits and water stops are then the only wet part of the ride. If weather ever affects a departure we let guests know, and our team confirms the arrangements at booking or at pick-up.

Is a quad safari better after rain?
