Climbing Out of Alanya
The Alanya quad safari starts with a morning collection from your hotel lobby in Alanya or Konaklı. The minibus leaves the coast road, climbs into the green Taurus foothills, and the temperature drops and the air turns to pine somewhere on the way up. By the time you reach the base camp among the hills the engines are already warm. Total outing: about three hours, graded easy.
Eighteen to Drive — Read This Before You Book
This is the one thing that separates the Alanya departure from our others, and it catches families out. On this tour drivers must be eighteen or over and confident handling the machine; younger guests join as passengers with an adult. At Side, Kumköy and Belek the driving age is sixteen. If you are travelling with a seventeen-year-old who wants the controls, book one of those departures instead — we would rather move you now than disappoint you at the base camp.
Single or Double
Quads here can be ridden alone or two-up, and riding solo carries an optional single-rider upgrade. Two-up is not a consolation prize: you swap at the halfway stop, and the person not driving gets the far better view and does all the filming. It is also how couples and parent-and-child pairs usually do it.
The Route and the Viewpoint
The trail twists through fragrant pine forest, splashes across shallow water crossings and kicks up serious dust on the bumpy dirt sections and gentle climbs. Halfway round the guide halts the group at a panoramic ridge where the Mediterranean sits far below — the photograph you will actually keep from the day is taken there. The ride finishes with a water break and a thoroughly unserious splash fight, which is both a tradition and the most efficient way to get the trail dust off before the minibus.
Included, and Not
Included: the fuelled quad, helmet and dust mask, basic accident insurance, a professional off-road guide, a short driving lesson, water stops and a refreshment break, and return transfer from central Alanya and Konaklı. Not included: lunch, drinks and snacks, photo and video service, gratuities, and the optional single-rider upgrade.
Who Should Not Book It
It is not recommended for pregnant guests or anyone with back, neck or heart conditions. Infants aged nought to three join free of charge; children from four to eleven pay a reduced child price. Cancellation is free up to twenty-four hours before departure.
What to Wear
Old clothes and closed shoes you are prepared to write off, sunglasses against the dust, and a change of clothes for afterwards — the splash finale is not optional in practice.
