What a Side Quad Safari Actually Involves
The Side quad safari is a half-day out with a serious chunk of saddle time in the middle of it. Free transfer collects you from your Side hotel, morning or afternoon, and runs you inland to our own safari station. There you get a full safety briefing from the instructors, a helmet, and a supervised test drive on easy ground before anyone touches the trail. Only once you have shown you can steer, brake and hold a line does the real route begin — and that route runs about one and a half to two hours of continuous off-road riding.
That number is the one worth remembering. A great many quad listings quote a total outing length and leave you to discover how little of it is spent driving. Ours is the reverse: the transfer and briefing are the frame, the riding is the picture.
Two Tracks, Not One
Side is unusual because there are two separate routes from the same base. The standard Off-Road Forest Track is the classic one — natural obstacles, dense forest trails, deep mud, and the dust cloud that gives quad safaris their reputation. The River Side Track swaps some of that for water crossings and aquatic mucking about, and it is priced differently to the forest route. If the river version appeals, say so on WhatsApp while you reserve and the team will confirm the difference before you commit to anything.
The Machine Under You
Tour quads are built to be learnable in minutes. There is no clutch and no gear lever: machines of this class sold in Türkiye use a belt-driven CVT, where variable-diameter pulleys change the ratio continuously as the revs rise, so you squeeze and go. The throttle is a thumb lever rather than a twist grip, specifically so a jolt through the bars cannot accelerate you by accident and so both hands stay wrapped round the grips for steering and bracing. Between those two design choices, the learning curve on flat ground is about five minutes long.
Who Drives, and Who Rides
This is real off-road, so ability decides. The minimum age to drive is sixteen, and a passenger from six years old rides securely belted alongside. Guests with back or neck trouble are far better off in the passenger seat than at the controls. If the practice lap goes well the machine is yours for the route; if you would rather be driven, or the instructors judge the day is not right for you, you cover the identical trail without touching a throttle. Bring photo ID — the base needs it from whoever drives.
What to Bring, and the Bit Nobody Mentions
Wear old, dark clothes and fully closed shoes. Bring a complete change of clothing and a towel, because the mud is not decorative. The thing that genuinely sets this base apart is the shower block: changing cabins and showers are free to use before your transfer home, so you go back to your hotel clean rather than sitting on a towel in a minibus. Goggles and bandanas are sold at the facility if you did not pack your own.
